Benefits & Opportunities: Over the course of my internship I will have worked 8 different music festivals and visited 6 different states. When working an event, my flights and hotel are paid for, and I am provided with a pass for the festival that is often all access. I am able to see what goes on in the days leading up to the event, the behind the scenes during the event, and the post-event aftermath. There are a variety of departments you can work with, and because I was on the food vendors team, I was often offered free food throughout the weekend as well.
Achievements: While working with Spectrum I was able to really work on my customer service skills. We often work with volunteers or vendors who are not familiar with the point of sale (POS) systems that we provide, so it is important to be patient and understanding. I was also able to gain experience in problem-solving, as there are many things that could go wrong on any day. I was given a lot of responsibility and was able to learn by doing. Rules and policies can change per festival, and being able to adapt was key.
